Eligibility for ERC Membership

The Emergency Response Centre (E.R.C.) has been established in the larger interest of environment to support the industries, Government departments and other target groups for preventive and mitigative measures to avert the chemical accidents. It is a voluntary scheme set up by Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, GoI. The ERC is not a legislative requirement nor it is mandatory for any industry to obtain its membership. However, since this scheme is in the interest of environment, the industries have shown keen interest to the aims and the objectives of ERC and have agreed to be a part of this centre and contribute to it as agreed under "Equity Participation Criteria”.

Any industry that supports the objectives of E.R.C. can become its member by obtaining membership.

Membership Fee

As mutually agreed by the Government and the Industries, the ERC membership fee has been kept at nominal, i.e. Rs. 1.50 per Lac of investment. Industry applying for membership may compute the fee accordingly and send the same preferably online or through D.D. / Banker’s cheque, favouring the Member Secretary, M.P. Pollution Control Board, Bhopal.

Membership Form

Any industry intending to become member of E.R.C. may apply in the prescribed application form. The industry is specifically required to furnish information about chemicals being handled by them. This information is used to strengthen the industries by providing them the technical inputs and relevant guidance, as pre-emptive action, particularly on chemical safety, for safe handling of chemicals and deal with the crisis situation in case of occurrence.
