EXPOSURE

  • INHALATION
  • Cough. Headache. Nausea.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Redness.
    Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
  • EYES
  • Redness.
    Safety goggles, or face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • (further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place (extra personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from strong oxidants. Ventilation along the floor.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
The vapour mixes well with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
Reacts with strong oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.
    OSHA PEL: none
    NIOSH REL: TWA 5 ppm (33 mg/m3)
    NIOSH IDLH: No data

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The vapour irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the kidneys and blood system , resulting in blood in urine. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The liquid defats the skin. Lungs may be affected by inhalation of high concentrations resulting in oedema. The substance may have effects on the liver and bone marrow , resulting in impaired functions.
