  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Shortness of breath.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Face shield.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal pain.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
    		Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Vacuum spilled material. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Separated from food and feedstuffs, and incompatible substances (see Chemical Dangers). Cool. Dry. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
    		Airtight. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

     UNSTABLE COLOURLESS DELIQUESCENT CRYSTALS.

     The substance may polymerize at temperatures above 122°C. The substance decomposes on warming above 49°C, on contact with acids, bases and moisture producing toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides and cyanides. Reacts with acids, strong oxidants, strong reducing agents and water causing explosion and toxic hazard. Attacks various metals.

    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the liver.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.

    Optimum pH for storage of solutions is around 4; solutions can be stored in glass provided they are stabilized with phosphoric, acetic, sulfuric or boric acid. Other boiling points: 140°C at 2.5 kPa. Use of alcoholic beverages enhances the harmful effect. Do NOT take working clothes home. Term cyanamide is also used to designate calcium cyanamide.
