EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
  • Nausea, dizziness, vomiting, pupillary constriction, muscle cramps, hypersalivation, laboured breathing, convulsions, unconsciousness.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest, and refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • MAY BE ABSORBED! Muscle twiching at first (further see Inhalation).
    Protective gloves, protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes, rinse and then wash skin with water and soap, and refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Liquid, aerosol will be absorbed, redness, pain, pupillary constriction.
    Face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, pupillary constriction, muscle cramps, laboured breathing, unconsciousness.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!), rest, and refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible, absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Dry; keep in a well-ventilated room.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE
LIGHT BROWN TO PALE YELLOW LIQUID, WITH SULFUR ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on burning producing irritating fumes of sulfur dioxide and phosphoric acid. Reacts with acids and alkalies (hydrolysis).

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
    TLV: 0.01 ppm; 0.1 mg/m3 (skin) (ACGIH 1990-1991).
OSHA PEL: TWA 0.1 mg/m3 skin
NIOSH REL: TWA 0.1 mg/m3 skin
    NIOSH IDLH: 10 mg/m3

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin, and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the nervous system by cholinesterase inhibiting effect , resulting in convulsions, respiratory failure and death. Exposure above OEL may result in unconsciousness. Exposure above OEL may result in death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The substance may have effects on cholinesterase , resulting in significant depression of blood cholinesterase. Cumulative effect is possible resulting in an important depression of blood cholinesterase (see Acute Hazard Symptoms).
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
Boiling point at 0.2 kPa: 134
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.18
    Solubility in water: None
    Vapour pressure, Pa at 20°C: 3.4 x 10-2
    Flash point: 45°C (c.c.)°C
Explosive limits, vol% in air: 1-5.3
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to bees and fishes.
    NOTES
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. Do NOT take working clothes home.
The recommendations of this card apply to pure form. Commercial formulations are often mixtures including impurities, solvents or other agents which modify toxic and physico-chemical properties.
