FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulation containing organic solvents may be flammable.
NO open flames.
Water spray, powder, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
  • (see Ingestion).
    Ventilation (not if powder).
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • See Ingestion.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
    Safety goggles, or face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Abdominal cramps. Convulsions. Dizziness. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Unconsciousness. Vomiting. Pupillary constriction, muscle cramps, excessive salivation.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from food and feedstuffs. Cool. Dry. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
IF PURE: COLOURLESS CRYSTALS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating , on burning producing toxic fumes: nitrogen oxides, phosphorous oxides and sulfur oxides. Unstable in alkaline solution. Incompatible with alkaline pesticides. Slightly corrosive to iron.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.
    PDK: 0.5 mg/m3 MAC (USSR 1977).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates slightly the eyes. The substance may cause effects on the nervous system , resulting in cholinesterase inhibition. Exposure at high levels may result in convulsions and death due to respiratory failure. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis observed in rare cases.
    PHYSICAL

    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to very sensitive organisms like honey bees, and also to fish and birds.
    NOTES
Other melting points: 45-47°C, technical grade. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. The symptoms of poisoning do not become manifest until days. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Do NOT take working clothes home. Bi 58, Cygon, Fostion MM, Perfekthion, Rogor, Roxion are trade names.
