EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
  • Cough. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Sore throat. Vomiting. Excessive salivation, numbness and tingling sensation. Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes). Arrhythmia.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Serious skin burns. Pain.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Blurred vision. Severe deep burns.
Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Abdominal pain. Convulsions (further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Do NOT wash away into sewer. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from food and feedstuffs. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Airtight. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    ODOURLESS, COLORLESS CRYSTALS.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing highly toxic fumes including fluorides.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV: ppm; 0.05 mg/m3 for sodium fluoracetate (skin) (ACGIH 1994-1995).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and through the skin, and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powdered.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the cardiovascular system, central nervous system, and kidneys , resulting in impaired functions including cardiac and renal failure. Exposure may result in death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Boiling point: 165°C
    Melting point: 35.2°C
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.37
    Solubility in water: soluble
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: -0.061 (est.)
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to mammals.
    N O T E S
The symptoms of central nervous system, cardiac, and renal failure do not become manifest until a few hours have passed. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
